Robotnik had been defeated by Sonic and the freedom fighters time and time again and also by Knuckles and the chatotix every time he had tried to do his dirty work on the floating island.
Finally fed up with all these defeats he decides to take out all of his enemies with 1 big plan. He realized robotasizing the critters 1 by 1 is just to slow, he invented the robo bomb which would robotasize every living thing on the planet.
That was his plan, but all he could make was a bomb that could robotasize a small area, the largest area he could get is a few yards so he had to find a way to get everyone into the blast zone.
"How can I get those blasted goodie goodie's into the same place at the same time" Robotnik wondered. He only had enogh materiel left over after all the tests to make 2 bombs.

All that testing hadn't gone unnotesed by the freedom fighters (having small areas completely robotasized inst exactly hard to miss) They had seen the areas of metal forest and knew robotnik was up to no good and had to be stopped.
The problem was that the bomb left no evidence behind since it fuses with the surroundings. Robotnik kept his meca bomb lab is a secret part of his city that only he knew about.
Back at knothole village they were disusing the misterus metal areas they knew Robotnik had done it but they had no idea how to counter robotnik's new weapon, even rotor and uncle chuck where stumped.

Back at robotnik's city Robotnik started to plan on how to bring the freedom fighters and the chaotix together long enough to robotasize them. It was well know that the 2 groups of heros didn't get along very well and fought every now and then.
Robotnik decided to trick the freedom fighters into going to the floating island so they would fight and be in a small area, easier said than done. "How am I going to get Sonic and the rest to the floating island" he thought to himself.
He thought about using holograms trick them into thinking knuckles was attacking, but would they fall for it? He had an idea, he had built a fake king acorn and they all fell for it for a while until they found it was a bot.
This time they won't get the chance to examine it, they will be to busy fighting and chancing it to figure it out. "That's 1 problem down and 1 to go, how to deliver the bombs without any of those goodie goodie's seeing it coming and getting out of blast range."
Robotnik decided to build the bombs into 2 of his robots and add a invisability device also, but the problem with that is the invisabilty only lasts a few minets before it has to be recharged.

So a few weeks later the fake bots where done and the bombs was ready to go. So he sent out the fake knuckles and the rest to reek havoc in the forest while he got the other bomb bot ready to go. It didn't take long for sonic to arrive, and who did he find there?
Who else but his rival knuckles. Sonic yelled at the fake knuckles wanting to know why he was doing this. The Fake Knuckles replied that he and the chaotix where taking over the forest and then knothole, this made sonic mad and he rushed twored the fake knuckles,
but the bot sucker punched sonic and ran away while sonic was recovering from the blow. In other parts of the forest other members of the freedom fighters met up with the fake chotix and where beaten (just stunned not knocked out).

Meanwhile on the floating island robotnicks freedom fighters are harassing the local wildlife until the chatotix apeerd and demanded to know why the they were acting this way, they replied saying that there tired of living in fear of Robotnick down in the forest so they
decided to take over the floating island. the chaotix didn't like this so they decided to fight to keep they're home safe. the chatotix just barley manged to hold they're own b4 the fake freedom fighters ran away saying that they will be back sooner or later.
A little while later on another part of the island knuckles was walking along thinking about the robotasized sections of ground when the fake sonic apeerd and told knuckles that he was taking over. Of course knuckles wasn't happy about this so they dukes it out with the fake
sonic winning and running off saying he and the rest of the freedom fighters would be back to take over the island Knuckles meet up with the other chatix and they decided that if sonic and the freedom fighters came back they would make sure they wouldn't leave.

Back in knothole Prinsess Sally and the rest of the freedom fighters were discussing recent events. talking about the mysterious robotasized patches of forest and about knuckles and the chaotix.
Sally decided to goto the island along with the rest of the freedom fighters using a flightpod taken from Robotnik some time back. Since Roter had been able to fix it up it seemed like a good idea to use it.
Before they went Sonic decided to take some power rings just in case. He didn't trust knuckles. So they went to the section of the forest where the flight pod was hidden. Once they got within a visual range of the island they were picked up by Robotnik's scanners.
Seeing the small pod approach the flying island he ordered the fake sonic and knuckles to the island to get the 2 groups together so he could set off his robo bombs. Using the inviability devices they snuck onto the floating island undetected.
They split up, the fake sonic would go after knuckles and the chaotix and the fake knuckles would go after the freedom fighters and sonic. The fake sonic quickly located knuckles and the chaotix. He yelled at them to come and get him, they gave chance.
The fake knuckles took flight to knock the flying pod that the freedom fighters were in out of the sky but not to destroy the cargo inside.
